Die International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) hat bekannt gegeben, dass der Weltkongress 2019 in Athen stattfinden wird. Dort hatte die IFLA im Frühjahr 2017 bereits die Entwicklung einer globalen Vision für Bibliotheken initiiert. Im nächsten Jahr ist Athen Weltbuchhauptstadt, zudem ist die Eröffnung einer neuen Nationalbibliothek geplant. Der Kongress soll anhand von Social Media und Streaming verstärkt mit der internationalen Fachgemeinschaft geteilt werden.
